"The Rest of the Prayer Book"

If you have had to miss any of the programs in our Lenten Series on Tuesdays, you can now read the handouts from those presentations here at the Christ Church web site. Take a look, and let us know what you think is special about our Book of Common Prayer.

Our BCP is a beautifully written compilation of Scripture and prayers.
It serves as a tool for personal prayer, shared prayer, church services for all the important events in our lives, and a catechism to teach us our beliefs.
The BCP is a source of comfort, beauty, and a door to spirituality for me.
It is a living piece of literature.

I like the fact that one can go to any Episcopal Church anywhere and can feel at home because the same BCP is used.

That someone can walk into an Episcopal Church, find a Prayer Book, and worship in the same basic way as Episcopalians throughout this land is a testament to the universality of the church.

Another word for "universal" is "catholic." In this Book of "Common" Prayer, we are reminded that we are not just local Christians. We are a part of something bigger -- the worldwide Body of Christ.
